Anti-Aging Facials in Park City, UT

Mountain towns can be a lot of fun but what the harsh climate can do to your skin is not fun and games. In Park City, UT you need to go the extra mile when it comes to taking care of your skin. I know this town is all about looking natural and healthy, but that doesn’t mean you don’t need to put in the work to get that youthful, natural look.

Corrective Facials

Find a reputable Aesthetician who understands how to treat faces that are outdoors in the harsh elements all year long. The extreme weather in Park City, requires some serious measures. A monthly facial is a good start. Your Aesthetician should be your skincare coach. Just like you need a coach or trainer to help you get your body in shape, you need someone who can guide you through every season and its skincare challenges.

How much is too much?

My recommendation is to get a facial every single month. Your pores need deep cleaning, and your skin needs a professional exfoliation. A good Aesthetician will check for any unusual growths or moles and tell you as well as make a note in your personal file. Many times, a good Aesthetician will catch conditions like skin cancer before a Dermatologist because a Derm visit is usually only once a year? The only time I would recommend someone get facials more frequently than once a month is someone struggling with blemishes. Over exfoliation is never a good thing.

A Home Routine

Maybe this comparison is used too much but it’s a good one. Getting fantastic skin takes consistency, just like getting a fit body takes regular exercise. Your Aesthetician should be an expert in analyzing and then prescribing exactly what you need to do at home to maintain and improve skin after your facial. In my opinion too much money is wasted on products that tout miracles from a marketing campaign. Trust your Aesthetician and follow her advice.

Not all ingredients are created Equal

There are a handful of ingredients that you should know about that really work to make you look healthier and more youthful. Retinol is the workhorse of skincare. If used the right way, it can help with skin texture, fine lines and wrinkles, build collagen and help with skin breakouts. Antioxidants, like Vitamin C serum, coupled with a 30 or above SPF should never be questioned. Without these two, your skin will look weathered and you run the risk of skin cancer. Lactic Acid is a deeper yet gentle exfoliant. Not only does it remove dead skin cells, it brightens and hydrates the skin. Hyaluronic Acid holds 1000 times its weight in water. It not only gives your skin a big drink of hydration but it plumps the skin at the same time. Peptides are the creme de la creme of ingredients. Everyone needs one serum with a powerful peptide and should be used at night when the repair is done.

Relaxation & Sleep

Something that is not talked about enough is the importance of relaxation and how it can improve your skin. A good facial includes a lot of nurturing and therapeutic massage. There are numerous benefits of massage but one really important one is to drain excess fluid from tissues through lymphatic massage. Excess fluid in the face that can cause puffiness and make you look older. Don’t under estimate what you have heard about getting enough sleep. You need 6-8 hours of quality sleep to regenerate skin cells. Naps count too.

Alcohol

Excess alcohol will make you look older by dehydrating your skin. It also affects your sleep which affects the condition of your skin. But a glass of red wine is actually good for your skin in that it provides a dose of a super antioxidant called Resveratrol.

Healthy Diet

Drink your weight in ounces of water daily, take 2000 mgs of quality fish oil, eat more fruits and veggies for the fiber and antioxidant benefit. Protein is a must for building muscle and guess what the face has muscle. Have a green smoothie with collagen protein to build elastin. Cut down on sugar. Sugar causes cross-linking of collagen, resulting in stiffening and loss of elasticity of skin.
